Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but weak characters, is among of the most celebrated American actors of our times. Linney was born to an unmarried mother, who worked as a nurse. She became interested in theatre during the summers spent by her famous father. She was a student of acting through Brown University, and later in Juilliard School. Within a mere two months after graduating the actress began her Broadway career. In the following year, she made her first appearance in film and television. She has been featured on a number of stages, films and television programs since. Her nominations include three Tony Awards, three Academy Awards, five Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her time on the stage. However, in spite of all the awards she has received acting has been her passion first and foremost. She continues to perform both on screen and on stage.
