April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 in seventh grade. She began playing the guitar as well as taking piano lessons which ignited her enthusiasm for writing songs. April's first song was Different which she composed aged 12. At the age of 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing her lyrics, and perfecting her musical ability. Later on she began to take writing excursions together with her dad to LA in addition to NY. The month also saw her include other related topics for some of her friends dealing with such things as bullying by peers and teens who commit suicide through the songs Take my Hand. Lockhart has a partnership with top clean-skin brand Ilia and also is a lifestyle influencer, with her own growing fan base. She has a disability that is part of her personality, but it is not the whole of the picture. So, Lockhart's Instagram profile isn't afraid to talk about her disabilities, yet it doesn't center around it either. The point is? That we all contain multitudes that our identities are complex and we're greater than the physical person we are. I don't want that to define me I don't want to become a person who is a disability-related influencer where that's all I talk about as there are different aspects to me Lockhart speaks via video from her home in Nashville. The fact that it's not affecting my day-to-day life I do every day as normal and have found my own method of adjusting to things. But it's also a part of me so I think that it's important to speak about. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime however Lockhart is a true inspiration regarding this issue. Lockhart admits to having been through times when she was uncomfortable sporting certain clothes that showed her arms. Nowadays, she dresses what she's comfortable in and post pictures of herself in these outfits on the internet with a sense of pride. Self-love, she says is a journey. I'm not sure if you'll ever get there. But I think that's with everyone with whatever their insecurity is. The people you surround yourself by who are truly yours and who can look into your heart, are the ones who will remind you about the importance of your life.
